개교 50 주년을 바라보며… 1973년 개교 이래, 본교는 학생들의 정체성 확립에 기여해 왔다고 자부합니다. ‘한국학교의 어머니’로 칭송받고 계신 허병렬 선생님이 본교의 설립자이시자 초대교장으로 36년간 학교의 근간을 세워주셨음에 감사드리지 않을 수 없습니다. 저 또한 허 선생님의 정신을 이어받아 뉴욕한국학교가 명실상부 코리안아메리칸 정체성 교육의 요람이 되도록 최선을 다할 것입니다.
이곳에서 자녀의 정체성 확립에 큰 관심을 갖고 계신 학부모님들과 교육 관계자 여러분들을 만나는 것은 저의 큰 기쁨입니다. 다문화 다민족사회에서 정체성 확립만큼 중요한 교육은 없다는 것이 저의 신념이기 때문입니다. 이곳 웹사이트에 제공된 여러 자료들을 두루두루 살펴보시고, 교과과정에 도움될만한 의견이 있으시면 주저말고 조언주시길 부탁드립니다. 50년 발자취를 돌아보며, 미래 50년의 청사진을 여러분과 함께 그려나가겠습니다. 감사합니다.

Now, in a few years, our school will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Since its opening in 1973, we are proud to have contributed to establishing students’ Korean American identity. I cannot help but thank Ms. Grace B. Huh, our school founder and the first principal for 36 years. She has laid a firm foundation for the school. I will also take the spirit of Ms. Huh and will do my best to make school the cradle of Korean American identity education.
It is my great pleasure to meet here with parents and educators who are very interested in establishing children’s identity. It is my belief that there is no education as important as establishing identity in multicultural and multi-ethnic society. Please take a look through the various resources available on this website and do not hesitate to ask for any comments that may be helpful to the curriculum. Looking back over 50 years, I will draw a blueprint for the next 50 years with you.
